Xfinity Live! in Philadelphia’s Stadium District is gearing up for its first significant expansion since opening in 2012. This popular dining and entertainment venue, developed by Comcast and The Cordish Companies, sits at the heart of the Philadelphia sports complex, nestled between Citizen Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field, and the Wells Fargo Center.
Comcast, headquartered in Philadelphia, operates Xfinity as its cable, internet, telephone, and wireless services brand. The Cordish Companies, a Baltimore-based casino and hospitality giant, also manages Live!-branded entertainment districts across the United States. In Pennsylvania, Cordish runs Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, located just steps from Xfinity Live!
On Wednesday, Comcast and Cordish announced a $15 million expansion project for Xfinity Live! and the adjoining community plaza. This development will convert the plaza into a two-story building featuring an upscale rooftop oasis named AVA, an open-air beer garden, a significant expansion of the PBR Cowboy Bar, and an upgraded turf area for special events, activities, and community activations. Additionally, the project will include a rotating food truck area, state-of-the-art audio-visual systems, LED screens for optimal sports viewing, and artworks that connect the destination to the nearby community.
“We are proud to continue investing in South Philadelphia to create an unparalleled experience for guests and fans,” said Blake Cordish, a principal of The Cordish Companies. “This investment reflects our commitment to create a gathering space for festivals, sports viewing, and community events unlike anything in the area.” He concluded that the $15 million investment would ensure Xfinity Live! remains the heart of the Stadium District for years to come.
Cordish initially invested $700 million to develop and open Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, which began operations in early 2021. This was Cordish’s second casino in Pennsylvania, following Live! Casino Pittsburgh, which opened in November 2020.
Live! Pittsburgh, a smaller “mini-casino,” features 750 slot machines, 40 live dealer table games, and a FanDuel Sportsbook and is located inside the Westmoreland Mall. In contrast, Live! Philadelphia boasts over 2,000 slots, 140 tables, a 29-table poker room, and a FanDuel Sportsbook, generating $136.9 million in gross gaming revenue from slots in 2023, ranking eighth among Pennsylvania’s 17 brick-and-mortar properties.
The venue also excels in table games, earning $108.4 million from bettors last year, ranking third in the state. Including Live! Pittsburgh and its sports betting revenue, Cordish reported a 2023 gross gaming revenue in Pennsylvania of approximately $368.7 million and an additional $40 million in iGaming GGR. However, a significant portion of Cordish’s sports betting and iGaming income is shared with its online partner, FanDuel.
