With a notable career spanning over twenty years, Steve Weitman, president of Wynn Resorts’ Las Vegas Strip properties, announced his intend to exit the company, effective June 10th. As pivotal figure perched at the helm of the gaming giant for over two decades, Weitman rendered the industry servile at the news of his departure. Mystery surrounds his sudden exodus, with Weitman leaving it to simmer at the ambiguity of it being “the right time to pursue my next chapter” and evaluating other opportunities.

Weitman’s sterling accomplishments while presiding over the Wynn and Encore on the Las Vegas Strip, anchors his legacy, which he attributes to years of dedication combined with the professional camaraderie fostered at the organization. “Following twenty years with this esteemed organization and steering the properties to the apex of their financial performance in its history, I bid goodbye leaving Wynn Las Vegas and Encore in an unparalleled operating vista,” he confided in a heartfelt note to his colleagues and personnel, sprinkling nostalgia and appreciation over the end of an epoch.

In the gaming landscape embroidered by the glitz and glamor of Sin City, Wynn and Encore Las Vegas have symbolized Wynn Resorts’ footprint, akin to two dazzling gems in a carefully curated three-piece collection – the third being Encore Boston Harbor.

Rewinding the journey throbbing with ambition and achievements, Weitman had embarked on the Wynn journey in May 2004, stepping into the shoes of a senior vice president for Wynn Las Vegas. Over a period of twelve groundbreaking years, his prowess earned him a promotion to the Chief Operating Officer’s role in September 2016. In a sensational culmination, he catapulted to the stature of President, an illustrious tenure that could only have been a dream for many had it not been for Weitman showing the way.

“Steve’s absence will be palpable, yet given his industrious tenure, we empathize with his desire to explore other facets of life. His impact on Wynn Las Vegas, spanning over two decades cannot be overstated. His indelible contribution to our triumph and unwavering commitment to Wynn will continue to inspire many,” reminisced Wynn’s CEO, Craig Billings in a heartfelt message to his team.

The pulsating prelude to Weitman’s Wynn saga was his commendable stint as a director of operations and licensing for Walt Disney, stationed at the mecca of the yesteryear’s darling, Burbank, California.

The timing of Weitman’s announcement, however, left eyebrows raised across the industry. It coincided with an ongoing bitter tussle between Wynn and Fontainebleau Las Vegas, ensnaring Wynn in a litigious web over alleged pilfering of its prominent personnel. It’s worth noting that till date there is no confirmation of Weitman’s intention to continue in the gaming industry or switch to another casino, post his departure from Wynn Las Vegas.
