Woman Aged 21 Dead, Man Charged With Impaired Driving Leading To Death South Of Edmonton

A woman aged 21, is dead, while a man has been charged with impaired driving after his car hit a traffic sign pole, south of Edmonton, Saturday morning.

Police responded to a 911 call relating to a single-automobile collision at the area between 145th Street and Highway 19 a few minutes past 7am, police press briefing said.

The reported said that a Honda Accord, black, was speeding east when it started drifting onto the shoulder, colliding with a traffic pole.

The passenger side sustained serious damaged; police noted.

First responders treated the passenger, a woman who had serious injuries, and had her sent to the emergency room, where she died hours later.

The driver, aged 22, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrested and charged him with driving leading to death.
