Edmonton Police Service Chief Dale McFee is set to leave his position in 2025 as he takes on a new role within the Alberta government. McFee has been appointed by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith to become the deputy minister of executive council and head of the Alberta Public Service, starting February 24, 2025. McFee has held the position of Edmonton’s police chief since 2019 and has served in leadership roles with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Canadian Police Association. Prior to his tenure in Edmonton, McFee was the chief of police in Prince Albert and held the deputy minister role for corrections and policing in Saskatchewan. Although he announced his early departure from the Edmonton Police Service in November, his last working day will be February 21, 2025.
