The new normal: what one pub owner is doing to keep you safe

4777

The West Island Blog spoke with Jim Beauchamp, president of the merchants on Ste-Anne Street and owner of Cunningham’s Pub in Ste-Anne-De-Bellevue about the measures that have been implemented since the reopening of bars and pubs on June 25th.

Not all pubs and restaurants will operate the same, but Jim Beauchamp wants to make sure his pub adheres to all the rules and regulations by the Quebec government in order for the public to feel as safe and comfortable as possible.

Here are some of the main differences you’ll see when walking into a pub like Cunninghams:

-No salt and pepper shakers

-No utensils on the table

-Plexiglass dividers between each table

-All staff wearing a mask

-Disposable menus

-Disposable tape around interact machines

-Hand sanitizer on each table

He also mentioned he would like to implement a QR code that when scanned, automatically downloads their menu onto your phone which can allow the customer to manually place their order and even pay their bill through their phone. This hasn’t been implemented yet as he stresses that he would still rather give customers the personalized service they deserve.

“We don’t really want to get to that point because I think you are losing a lot of the service in the interaction, I think that’s what people are missing right now is the interaction, that one on one”
