Firefighters are currently tackling a significant scrub fire in Whangārei. The emergency services were alerted shortly after 2 p.m. and have been working diligently at Hutchinson Road in Pataua South. The fire has already consumed three hectares of bush and pine tree residue. To combat the blaze, four fire trucks and three helicopters are actively engaged, while an additional helicopter is on standby.
