Wests Tigers Junior Star’s Sibling Accused in Shocking Murder Case

In an unexpected twist, the sibling of a rising star in the Wests Tigers junior league faces severe allegations. Eti Tavui, a 21-year-old, stands accused of the purported murder of Dejan “Danny” Radulovic. The accusations came to light just a day after the younger Tavui was held on similar charges.

In a recent virtual court hearing at Sydney’s Liverpool Local Court, Tavui made a poignant display, sending kisses to his awaiting family and supporters from the confines of his jail cell. The arrest was carried out on Wednesday at Liverpool Station, and the charges against him included not only the alleged murder but also a failure to comply with a digital evidence access order direction.

In the aftermath of the court proceedings, tensions soared when one among Tavui’s empathizers apparently pushed a journalist on their way out of the court. The journalist retorted, expressing his disapproval of the unwarranted physical contact.

The tragedy that instigated these events unfolded back at Donnelly St in Balmain, precisely at 3.40pm on July 29. Responding to a reported assault, the police arrived on the scene to discover the critically injured Mr Radulovic, bearing severe harm to his head and torso. Paramedics endeavored to stabilize him at the scene but were ultimately compelled to rush him to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. His later demise was a shock, with a subsequent autopsy divulging he was afflicted with gunshot wounds.

Mr Radulovic, however, was no stranger to the criminal justice system, having recently completed a nine-month sentence for drug supply. Allegedly assaulted by two men, who supposedly escaped in a white jeep, Mr. Radulovic’s assault was reported to the police. The vehicle was eventually located, burnt out at Five Dock.

In a move that sent ripples through the sporting community, Masei Tavui, a 19-year-old member of the Wests Tigers junior league for four years, was also charged with the alleged murder on Tuesday. Though he is not contracted for the year 2024, his involvement with the club lent additional shock value to the situation.

Eti Tavui, deciding against applying for bail, solemnly attended the court proceedings on Thursday. With his final appearance scheduled for December, the case continues to grip the citywide consciousness.
