After 30 years as a Montreal psychologist (and licensed neuropsychologist), Dr. Vicki Veroff, Ph.D. decided her clients needed more comprehensive, localized services. As a busy private practitioner, she could only offer so much on her own. So this summer, instead of continuing to send clients to multiple professionals and programs around the city, Dr. Veroff opened her own multidisciplinary clinic. Conveniently located near Fairview Pointe Claire, the West Island Neuropsychology and Counseling Centre offers a wide range of services under one roof. These services include psychotherapy; neuropsychological and psychoeducational testing; hypnotherapy; speech therapy; art, drama and music therapy; tutoring and remediation; neurocognitive (brain training) interventions and autism support (ABA). Group programs are also offered to children, teens and adults with ADHD, behaviour problems, social anxiety and social/emotional skill deficits.
Every therapist at the West Island Neuropsychology and Counseling Centre has been carefully selected for his or her commitment, compassion and competence. Since Dr. Veroff is so passionate about her career and her clients – as well as professional ethics – she deliberately sought out colleagues with a similar philosophy. Research has shown that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is an important component of successful treatment, along with the therapist’s training and experience. The centre’s goal is to create strong therapeutic alliances that will help clients overcome whatever holds them back, leading to healthier, happier, more productive lives.
The clinic serves children, teens and adults with a wide spectrum of problems including stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, relationship issues, work stress/burnout, separation/divorce, parenting issues, school problems and more.
Designed to be both discrete and professional, the clinic has a warm, comfortable ambiance that feels like you’re walking into someone’s living room. Each office is personally decorated to reflect the therapist’s personality, and the large group room was designed to make both adults and children feel at home.
