The West Island Blues Festival is a community-minded venture with the expressed objective of aiding non-profit organizations while promoting Blues music in the West Island. On June 17th, 2017, the festival celebrates its 14th anniversary with its traditional outdoor concert at the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Park, located at 12000 de Salaberry Boulevard in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Both admission and parking are free.
Outdoor Event
Over the past thirteen years, more than $120,000 raised from the festival has assisted several West Island community organizations such as: Alzheimer Groupe, the West Island Black Community Association, Action Jeunesse de l’Ouest de l’Île, the West Island Association for the Intellectually Handicapped, the West Island Women’s Shelter, the West Island Palliative Care Residence, Call of the Wild, the Portage Foundation and the Arthritis West Island Self Help Group.
This year’s chosen beneficiaries are: Alzheimer Groupe, the West Island Black Community Association, Action Jeunesse de l’Ouest de l’Île, and Literacy Unlimited.
VIP Indoor Fundraiser
A VIP fundraising indoor concert, featuring Brian Greenway’s Blues Bus will be held on Thursday, May 25th , 2017. Brian Greenway is most recognized for playing with the Canadian rock band April Wine. The concert will be held at the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Civic Center located at 12001 Boulevard de Salaberry. Cocktails will be served from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and the show will begin at 8:00 pm. Tax-deductible VIP tickets are $100 each.
