By Rhonda Massad

It started out as a dream to connect our beautiful community in a way that allows us to see each other in a positive light and enjoy each other’s accomplishments, challenges, and triumphs. Today, more than 5.1 million visits have been clocked on the West Island Blog website since April of 2015, not to mention the millions of views and engagements on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linked In.

As of October 26, 2017, The Quebec Community Newspaper Association has accepted West Island Blog as an affiliate member. Alongside, The Suburban Newspaper, The Laval News, Westmount Independent and many others, The West Island Blog gathers community news and brings it home to you.

I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and readership. I would like to thank the guest contributors who offer up their expertise and insights, our team of techies under Dahna Weber’s wing, who guide me through the maze of internet living. A special thank you to the sponsors, such as Desjardins West Island, Marriott Hotel, Ron Massad and countless others who make it possible for me to work in an arena that I love. Thank you to Wendy Hernandez who takes care of the countless ideas I want to share with the community every day. A special thank you will always go out to Robert Frank and the team at The Suburban for giving me my first gig and showing me the ropes. Lastly, I want to thank my parents, my husband, my family and my friends for standing by me with my excitement about EVERYTHING on the West Island.

I am humbled and honored to be part of the West Island community that steps up for each other when the chips are down and celebrates with each other when the times are good.

Thank you to the Quebec Community Newspaper Association for your recognition. It means the world to me.
