Weather Whiplash: Has New Zealand’s Storm Saga Truly Ended or Is There More to Unravel?

The severe weather conditions affecting the eastern regions of New Zealand’s North Island are beginning to subside, according to MetService. The agency has lifted all previous warnings and watches for gale southerlies and heavy rain in the areas of Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne. Despite this, some showers are expected to linger in Wairoa until early Sunday, potentially adding another 10 to 20 millimeters of rainfall. The rest of the North Island can anticipate a generally dry Saturday, though Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne may experience some morning showers. Meanwhile, the South Island is set to receive rain, particularly in the southern and western regions, with showers extending to Canterbury by the afternoon.
