Price-matching will soon become a thing of the past at Walmart stores in Canada.
Walmart Canada has officially announced the discontinuation of its Ad Match program in all stores and on Walmart.ca. The change will take effect on October 15th, 2020, however it will stay available to shoppers until then.
As for the reason behind the change, Walmart Canada released a statement saying “Over time, we have seen minimal usage of our Ad Match program, while at the same time the program has been causing delays at the checkout. As a result, we are discontinuing our Ad Match program in all stores and on Walmart.ca effective Oct. 15,”
Walmart says they will continue their commitment to keeping prices low both in-store and online.
Although price-matching will no longer be accepted, Walmart Canada will continue to accept coupons and will match the prices from Walmart.ca. This means that if an item is listed for a lower price on Walmart.ca, the identical item’s price will be matched in the store.
