Dollard des Ormeaux resident, Justine Erin Frankel, hopes to win The Next Beauties of the World Modelling Agency contest (TNBOW). The contest inspired Frankel to speak out to women who feel they do not fit the media-driven definition of beautiful. For Frankel, the contest is a way to help send a message to plus size woman from Montreal that “it’s okay to love one’s body, no matter what people think about it.”

“Hundreds of young women today experience eating disorders and depression because they are told they are too fat or too skinny, too much or too little makeup, too much freckle, too big thighs,” said Frankel. “Who should decide the standards of beauty? I want to tell women that they are beautiful. Period!”

Frankel has come out on social media about her journey towards self-love. In a recent Facebook post, she shows off her fuchsia pink bikini.

“Two years ago, I bought this bikini, the first one I had worn in a long, long time, years actually,” Frankel admits. “Buying this signified the first moment of my journey to self-love and acceptance, my world of body positivity and happiness that lead me here. So proud to be who I am, and so thankful for all the support. Xo ❤”

The Concordia student made a recent call out for her fans to vote for her online in the TNBOW contest. The contest is open to young women aged 18 – 35. The platform allows the public to discover their local modeling talent. According to the TNBOW website, participants attend intense training, to acquire techniques that bring necessary insurance for their personal growth.

They have the opportunity to learn different modeling tricks such as: walking on heels, bringing special care to the hair, posture, making suggestions about nutrition, photo shoots, videos and mounting a portfolio.
