This coming spring, Overture with the Arts (OWTA), a non-profit organization based in Montreal that helps kids find a creative outlet for self-expression is excited to present to you a new youth arts retreat. The weekend aims to Reset, Inspire, Socialize and Empower —that is why they call the event RISE.
On Victoria Day weekend, from May 17 – 20, 2019, attendees will be encouraged to step into nature at Camp Notre-Dame de Fatima in Ile Perrot for three days and three nights. They will be stretched in their creative potential as guest artists will be activating their gifts through songwriting, music and visual art workshops during the day.
In the evening, guest speakers will provoke awareness about different creative routes and seek to empower their listeners to use their voice positively in their communities and change their culture through the arts. While only a small group of 30 participants between the age of 15 and 18 will be present during the retreat, registration will be first come, first serve.
The group will be divided into two; one-day in music production workshop choosing either musical instruments or vocals and the other day, exercise their creative potential through visual art exercises/workshops. A collaborative song by the weekend is the hope alongside visuals to support the message of the theme: RISE. Existing knowledge is not required, as both artists and non-artists are welcome to contribute. OWTA believes that every “voice” has the potential to change the world.
Cost: $150+tax
