Last week, a Kahnawake Catholic was vandalized.
Local media said that graffiti was written on the doors of the walls of the St. Francis Xavier Mission Catholic Church on the 28th of July. Anti-Catholic symbols and swear words were written onto the doors in black paint.
A member of the church refused to speak publicly about the matter when contacted by local media, but its spokesperson said these were separate cases of vandalism when the matter was reported on the 27th of July.
Calls by local media to the church went unanswered last Tuesday evening.
Last May, community members had placed kid’s shoes on the front side of the church in commemoration of the victims of the residential school system, most of which were under catholic oversight.
