Usher Revives Roller Disco Era at Venetian’s Tao Beach Dayclub

Amidst the descending chill of winter, Tao Beach Dayclub’s usually idle pools and deck are undergoing a vibrant transformation into a 70’s-themed roller disco, thanks to the energetic input of Usher. The singer, who’s renowned for integrating roller-skating into his performances, is now gearing up to bring this vintage pastime to life for fans in a new and unexpected setting.

Usher’s endeavor is a collaborative effort involving Venetian and Tao Group Hospitality, in league with Flipper’s World—a company formed by the superstar himself, alongside Liberty Ross and Kevin Wall, in 2021. Their mission was to resurrect the legendary LA roller disco, Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace, which originally dazzled from 1979 to 1981.

Operating from November 17 through February 2, Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace will feature a temporary polyurethane rink sprawled across 3,250 square feet of Tao Beach. The charismatic allure of the rink is expected to draw crowds, especially with Usher anticipated to grace the grand opening following his successful Park MGM residency and additional stops on his sold-out “Usher: Past Present, Future” tour.

For skating enthusiasts, Flipper’s at Tao Beach will offer sessions from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. Patrons can skate for $20 per hour or opt for an all-day pass at $75. The rink is designed to welcome skaters of all ages, while also planning special programming for the 21-and-up crowd. VIP experiences including cabanas, daybeds, and lounges will be available, starting at a minimum expenditure of $100.

The original Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace became a cultural sensation in West Hollywood, famed for its celebrity clientele such as Cher and Elton John, an early Prince concert, and even a spotlight in a “Charlie’s Angels” episode. Building on this storied legacy, Usher and partners have successfully launched a flagship Flipper’s in London and orchestrated notable pop-up events in New York’s Rockefeller Center, as well as at Usher’s Super Bowl afterparty last year.

The Venetian’s roller disco is set to evoke the same legendary vibes, offering a unique escapade amidst the usual Vegas dazzle, sure to captivate both nostalgic aficionados and new generations alike.
