The Dune On-chain Adoption Index recorded a score of 77 in December 2024, approaching its previous peak of 84 noted in November 2021. The month of December alone saw on-chain transactions worth $817 million, surpassing the previous high of $730 million achieved in January 2022.

Fredrik Haga, CEO of Dune Analytics, highlighted this surge in an X post, emphasizing that transaction volumes paralleled the peak activity levels of 2021, indicating robust growth in blockchain adoption. Additionally, blockchain transaction fees significantly decreased, dropping from $2 billion in November 2021 to $500 million in December 2024, highlighting the deflationary aspect of blockchain technology and making it more accessible for widespread adoption.

These included Bitcoin reaching new heights, the approval of multiple Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, and the launch of an NFT rewards program by the Empire State Building. Politics also took note as former President Trump raised $4 million in campaign funding from the cryptocurrency sector.
