South Korean gaming giant Wemade is set to expand its efforts in integrating blockchain technology with gaming by establishing new decentralized communities in 2025. CEO Park Kwan-ho has described the upcoming year as a pivotal “turning point” as the company aims to explore new possibilities on a global scale by combining gaming with blockchain. Park emphasized the transparency and data inoperability inherent in blockchain technology as key elements for building trust in online services.

Wemade has already ventured into the blockchain space with platforms like WeMixPlay, a blockchain-based gaming hub, and WePublic, a tool for creating and managing decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). The company aims to position WeMixPlay as a leading destination for gamers worldwide and to leverage WePublic to advance the adoption of blockchain technology. However, further details regarding the features of these emerging blockchain communities and their launch timelines remain unspecified.

Wemade has been active in the blockchain sector since 2023 when it partnered with Singapore’s Whampoa Digital to establish a $100 million web3 fund. This initiative focused on blockchain gaming projects, with a particular interest in the Middle East region. At the time, former CEO Henry Chang highlighted the partnership as an opportunity to share expertise and deepen the understanding of blockchain technology.
