An overnight fire erupted at a strip mall in Surrey, British Columbia, causing extensive damage to multiple businesses. Acting Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Copeland reported that fire crews responded to the emergency call at 10:47 p.m. The blaze originated from the rear corner of the strip and was exacerbated by a damaged gas line, which was later shut off. A total of 24 firefighters were deployed to control the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The affected businesses include a restaurant, a tea shop, and a counseling service, all of which sustained severe damage.
