Alberta is featuring travel prizes in its immunization lottery in an effort to encourage lots more people to seek a second dose.
Other than the current three $1 million draws, Albertan who are fully immunized stands a chance to take home 40 different travel goodies, including weeks’ worth of all-inclusive stay at a destination in Mexico or a round trip to the destination of choice within Canada.
The goodies will be availed by Air Canada and WestJet, Alberta’s authorities said via a news post. The two airlines also said they would offer tickets for a round trip anywhere they go.
Those who have received both doses have until the 24th of August to sign up online and await the results of a draw to be held on the 31st of August. Only a single entry can be made for those eligible to participate.
The province unleashed a $3 million immunization lottery last Monday, with 3 draws spread out through the summer. All Albertans above 18 with a first dose are eligible to participate and even win in the first draw.
The 2nd and 3rd draws will be open to persons who are fully immunized, with their draws liley to take place in late August and early September.
Critics say it is unlikely that the immunization lottery will get people to immunize. However, Minister Tyler Shandro said will self-compensate by cutting down on infection rates.
