Authorities in downtown Toronto are on high alert as they embark on the search for a suspected assailant following a disturbing incident involving a minor.
The unsettling event took place on Dufferin Street and Bloor Street West, around the afternoon hours of 2:30 p.m. A nine-year-old girl, innocently engaged in a shopping activity, fell victim to a grievous sexual assault.
Detectives involved in the case explain how the alleged suspect approached his young victim stealthily from behind before committing the offensive act. The girl’s mother, upon discovering the assault, confronted the individual in question. However, swift in his reaction, the man managed to escape from the scene before punitive action could be taken against him.
The Toronto Police have since released a description of the suspect, providing vital clues to facilitate his swift identification and capture. He is speculated to be somewhere between the ages of 40 to 50 years, with an imposing stature of around six feet. His distinctive long, brown hair tied in a ponytail and an unkempt facial hair provide invaluable leads in recognizing him. Arguably his most distinguishing feature, however, are his black teeth.
At the time of the incident, he was dressed in a black shirt, paired with black jeans, accessorized with a pair of light-coloured running shoes with green soles.
The authorities are earnestly appealing to anyone who might have information regarding this disturbing incident to step forward. The public can either reach out to the police directly or choose to maintain their anonymity by contacting Crime Stoppers.
