In 2024, Piastri elevated himself from a promising rookie to a formidable competitor, rounding off the season by securing fourth place in the drivers’ championship and playing a pivotal role in McLaren’s first Constructors’ Championship victory in 26 years. As he gears up for the upcoming season, Piastri is emboldened by the prospect of competing alongside the elite in the championship race, with McLaren expected to position both him and teammate Lando Norris as strong contenders.
Four-time champion Max Verstappen remains the main adversary, yet McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes demonstrated their competitive edge last year. Asserting his capability to challenge the best, Piastri aspires to become Australia’s first F1 champion since Alan Jones in 1980.
