In a dramatic turn of events, a suspect linked to a fatal shooting in Tennessee was apprehended after he unexpectedly fell through the ceiling of a residence where he was attempting to evade capture. Authorities identified the suspect as 20-year-old Deario Wilkerson.
On Monday, Wilkerson was taken into custody in Memphis by a specialized task force from the U.S. Marshals Service known for its relentless pursuit of fugitives in West Tennessee. He was charged with first-degree murder and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon concerning the shooting death of Troy Cunningham, which occurred in Memphis on April 2.
The Marshals Service, in a detailed news release, revealed that they had tracked Wilkerson to a specific home in Memphis. The house was promptly surrounded by the task force to ensure Wilkerson could not escape. Unbeknownst to the officers, Wilkerson had taken refuge in the attic. His attempt to stay hidden ended abruptly when he fell through the ceiling, leading to his immediate arrest. Miraculously, despite the fall, he sustained no injuries.
As of now, online court records do not indicate whether Wilkerson has legal representation to address the severe charges against him.
