
A 19-year-old young man is staring at the prospect of multiple felony charges in the wake of a heated domestic dispute which spiraled out of control, prompting him to allegedly issue death threats to the stakes at hand before lashing out at the police officers assigned on the case, even daring to seize one officer’s firearm.
The dramatic events unfolded in a LaSalle residential home as conveyed by the LaSalle Police Department. At the precipice of 1 p.m. on September 4, the police department received a call highlighting a brewing family disagreement which had taken a menacing turn.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers were informed that the 19-year-old, a resident of the house, had pivoted from merely being a party to the dispute to a protagonist threatening to end the life of another individual, as well as their pet.
The officers, seeking to comprehend the complex situation and gather more details, informed the enraged suspect that he was detained and mandated not to leave the vicinity of the property.
The LaSalle Police report detailed a violent reaction from the suspect as a response to the arrest, leading to him physically assaulting the officers, launching a barrage of punches and kicks their way.
The suspect was consequently placed under arrest for assaulting law enforcement, encouraging a struggle as the handcuffs were brought out.
In the midst of the ensuing chaos, the young man allegedly resulted into biting, head-butting, and kicking at law enforcement, even making a daring attempt to grasp an officer’s firearm as the gunfire stood within his reach.
All four officers involved in the call sustained minor injuries in the assault, necessitating medical attention. Thankfully, full recovery is projected for the injured officers.
Now faced with the weight of his actions, the male suspect finds himself slapped with an array of criminal charges that include:
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm to an animal
- Four counts of assault on a peace officer
- Mischief/damage to property not exceeding $5,000
- Attempting to disarm a peace officer
The accused was subsequently held in custody pending a bail hearing.
