A dramatic scene unfolded in Scarborough as a 15-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being pinned under an SUV in a collision on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place close to the junction of Victoria Park Avenue and Huntingwood Drive, a little shortly before the clock struck 4:15 p.m.
At the time of the unfortunate incident, a black car was proceeding southward during which it crashed – or as more technically known, ‘T-boned’ – into a white SUV that was headed east.
Such was the force of the collision, that it catapulted the SUV onto the front lawn of a neighbouring house. The vehicle, in its course, ended up hitting two pedestrians—a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old.
The 15-year-old bore the brunt of the impact, finding themselves trapped underneath the SUV in a frightening twist of events. A quick-thinking neighbour rushed to the tumultuous scene with a jack to aid the trapped teenager.
Following the successful extraction, the 15-year-old was immediately transported to the Hospital for Sick Children. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were not considered life-threatening.
Alongside the teenager, the other pedestrian and the two drivers involved in the accident were also taken to the hospital for treatment. Their injuries, too, were non-life-threatening.
As the dust settles, what remains cloaked in uncertainty is the cause behind the shocking collision. An investigation is underway to pierce through this mystery.
