More than 400 people had a wonderful time at the TD Bank Group’s first Family Fun Day while supporting a great local cause! The young and the young at heart enjoyed a BBQ, air bounce rides, laser tag, ice cream, sports challenges and more. A grand total of $103,000 was raised for West Island Community Shares at the event held on Sunday, September 11th at Provigo Le Marché in Kirkland.
West Island Community Shares raises funds for 40 local community groups. 1 in 5 West Islanders turns to these groups for help each year. Some need help to address issues prevalent in low-income neighbourhoods like poverty, food insecurity, shelter and clothing. Others seek help for issues that affect their lives regardless of income levels. This includes cancer, mental illness, substance abuse, family crisis, physical and intellectual handicaps and more.
“Our slogan is: Live Here. Give Here. Making a Difference Together! Thank you to the TD Bank Group team for working hard to make this event successful and for making a difference in our community,” says Leanne Bayer, Executive Director, West Island Community Shares.
“We’re proud to support West Island Community Shares because the funds raised will help thousands of people right here in the West Island,” added Nathalie Weiner, TD Branch Manager, Kirkland.
Ms. Bayer also thanked Diamond-level partner, Ben & Florentine, for its generous sponsorship. Other partners that contributed to the event’s success included Gold’s Gym, Orange Theory, Plus 2 Sanitation and TD Wealth Private Investment Advice. The food for the BBQ and the venue were generously offered by Provigo Le Marché Kirkland. The Beat 92.5 Radio team was on-site to provide music and free ice cream was offered by Crème Glacée Lambert.
