Swastikas Found Twice at Connecticut High School Amid Rising Hate Crimes

Connecticut authorities are currently investigating a troubling situation that unfolded recently on a high school campus in Stamford. For the second time ever since Hamas launched its unexpected assault on Israel earlier this month, swastikas have been discovered on the premises, according to a statement from the school district.

The symbols were found on the tennis courts of the Academy of Information Technology & Engineering this past Friday. It was a group of students who made the unsettling discovery and quickly notified the school administrators. The Stamford Public School District promptly issued a release confirming the act of defacement.

In response to the incident, the Stamford Police Department has initiated a thorough investigation.

The school district has reported that this is the second occurrence of antisemitic symbols appearing on campus since October 7. It was on this day that the Palestinian militant group, Hamas, began an unexpected cross-border raid from Gaza into Israel. The attack has ignited a highly violent response from Israel and triggered an on-going conflict that has so far claimed the lives of over 8,000 people in Gaza and more than 1,400 in Israel.

These disturbing incidents have emerged amid a worrisome uptick in both antisemitic and anti-Muslim hate incidents on U.S. soil. Over the course of the past seven days, virtual threats of violence targeted at Jewish students at Cornell University have also been reported, making the gravity of these hate incidents more palpable.
