In a sudden turn of events, Mississippi’s Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort was forced to close its gaming floor operations on a recent Monday afternoon, following an unforeseen malfunctioning of their surveillance camera system. The resort’s gaming was back in motion early Tuesday after the system was successfully restored.
In accordance with state regulations, the immediate order for all visitors and players was to vacate the gaming floor in the wake of the camera failure. The law clearly states that a house of gaming cannot operate in Mississippi if their surveillance cameras are not functional. As soon as the issue emerged, the casino employees promptly notified the Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC).
Work on the surveillance system commenced around midday on Monday, however players were only permitted to return to the gaming floor on Tuesday morning at approximately 5:30 a.m. This unexpected disruption affected roughly 75% of the property’s gaming floor.
