Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, the renowned celebrity couple, have agreed to keep their two young children in New York for the time being, as documented in a court agreement filed recently. The stars are undergoing the legal intricacies of a divorce, drawing curtains on a marital journey that lasted four years.
Last week, Turner, the much-acclaimed “Game of Thrones” actress, pursued legal action against Jonas, the member of the popular band Jonas Brothers, with an intent to move their children back to London. As per an interim consent order that has surfaced in New York, a temporary arrangement has been agreed upon. Their daughters, born in 2020 and 2022, will remain in the U.S.
The court documents state, “The parties have agreed to the entry of the attached proposed Interim Consent Order, without prejudice to either party’s claims and defences, prohibiting the removal of the parties’ children from the jurisdictions of the United States District Courts until further order.”
The petition involved narratives from Turner, elaborating how the estranged pair had tirelessly tried to pin down their “forever home” in England over the past year. It mentioned their shared vision of settling in the U.K. right before the termination of their marital bond. The children, as per the petition, enjoy complete involvement and integration into English life and culture.
Their plan to purchase a new home, a contract that was under negotiation and scheduled to close this December, has also been noted in the document. Jonas has expressed his interest in maintaining a joint caring role for the children with Turner, ensuring their upbringing involves guidance from both parents in the U.K. and U.S.
Representatives told the press, “The kids, born in the U.S., have spent the majority of their life here. They are American citizens.”
After tying the knot in 2019, Jonas initiated the first move, filing for divorce in Florida. In a joint statement expressing their decision, they said, “After four years of wonderful marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our relationship. We hope for respect for our privacy and that of our children.”
