Hundreds of spectators gathered in Hong Kong on Saturday to witness the city’s first pyrotechnics drone show, part of an initiative to promote panda conservation awareness. The 10-minute spectacle involved 1,000 drones equipped with fireworks that soared over Victoria Harbour, creating giant panda images in the sky. Enthusiastic viewers, including families, arrived early to secure prime viewing spots. Eddie Chow, a local father, expressed hope that such events could boost tourism, praising the synergy of drones and fireworks. Similarly, Jodi Hung, a young local, admired the artful and technical prowess behind the display.

The event is part of broader activities celebrating the recent arrival of two new giant pandas, An An and Ke Ke, gifted by Beijing. These additions bring the population of giant pandas in Hong Kong to six, all residing at Ocean Park, a well-known theme park.

The drone show and related festivities, including exhibitions and a panda-themed carnival, underscore Hong Kong’s ongoing commitment to wildlife conservation and cultural engagement, amid international acts also showcasing panda diplomacy.
