Monday morning saw 26 people injured from a rapture at Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The incident occurred at 9:50 Am during the routine fire suppression system test. The system run uses nonflammable gas to spray water on flames in case of a fire outbreak.
At the time of the incident, there were about 100 people in the building including, casino workers and visitors. The compressed air blew a wall equipment room that overlooks the casino floor.
The rapture resulted in drywall material falling onto people below on the casino floor. Gary Bitner, the Seminole spokesman, says that some of the casino gaming equipment were slightly damaged.
“There was a good bit of damage in the equipment room. Minor damage took place on the casino floor, too.”
Seminole Fire Rescue team together, with Hollywood Fire Rescue, responded to the explosion. They found that drywall and insulation had crumbled and fallen on the casino floor. The casino housed over 1, 000 slots and table games.
It is located south of the large Seminole Hard Rock Casino. The casino is set to reopen on Monday at 8:30 PM.
