An altercation occurred at an Edmonton Catholic church last Sunday, even as protesters were congregated outside angered by a catholic priest’s denial that burial sites existed on sites of former residential schools.
Over the last few months, ground penetrating radar have shown the presence of thousands of remains on sites of former residential schools.
Reverend Marcin Mironiuk, who leads Our Lady Queen of Poland Parish, said that the news about existence of unmarked graves is all lie and manipulation. He said this on the 18th of July during mass. Video footage of the priest’s comment appeared on YouTube, but was removed later.
The priest apologized for his words at the behest of the Archdiocese of Edmonton. He was also sent on indefinite leave.
