Saskatoon Morning Tragedy: Pedestrian Killed on Train Tracks, Traffic Chaos Ensues

54

On a dreary Monday morning, tragedy struck as a pedestrian, walking on the train tracks, was fatally hit by an oncoming train. The unfortunate incident occurred nearing 8:30 a.m. in the vicinity of the 1800 block on Avenue F North, Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Police arrived promptly at the scene to discover the lifeless body of a male. As of the current reports, authorities have not yet managed to notify the deceased’s next of kin about the heartbreaking occurrence.

Consequently, the area surrounding 33rd Street West and Edmonton Avenue experienced temporary traffic setbacks as law enforcement carried out their investigative duties meticulously at the scene. The traffic restrictions were eventually lifted sometime after 3 p.m., freeing up the previous congestion for commuters.

After an in-depth investigation, the authorities ruled out the involvement of any foul play in the death. The case has since been turned over to the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service for further investigation and a possible determination of the cause of death.

Unfortunately, this incident is not an isolated occurrence. It constitutes yet another link in the chain of rail-related accidents that have marred Saskatoon this year, a painful reminder of the importance of rail safety.
