On June 24, 2021, the curtain raised on Resorts World Las Vegas, a $4.3 billion investment soaring on the northern end of the Strip. Over two years and four months down the line, the grandiose casino marked an exciting milestone; the enrollment of its one-millionth rewards member.
Malaysia-founded Genting is the proud owner of the Resorts World brand, which it has successfully established in other parts of the globe, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and the Bahamas. The company has further extended its realm in the United States with four Resorts World casinos – three in New York and one in Nevada.
The creation of the Las Vegas location marked the company’s largest U.S. footprint. It was launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a gamble that has proven rewarding. In Genting’s first-half 2023 earnings report, it was revealed that the resort’s 3,506 guest rooms thrived with over 90% occupancy. Furthermore, a steady rise in gaming and resort revenue was recorded.
Despite some initial turbulence, marked by several restaurant alterations and an executive scandal culminating in the termination of Scott Sibella as president and COO in September, Resorts World Las Vegas has regained its stride and solidified its place on the Strip.
Resorts World Las Vegas harnesses Genting’s loyalty program, Genting Rewards. Rewards points can be earned resort-wide on activities ranging from gaming to dining, including retail purchases and spa services. On Monday, November 6, Resorts World Las Vegas witnessed its millionth Genting Rewards member sign-up, courtesy of the Californian visitor, Billy Chung.
In celebration of being the one-millionth enrollee, Chung was presented with the casino’s Royal Treatment Package. The lucky guest will enjoy a host of perks, from a luxurious three-night stay, complete with roundtrip airfare for two, to a complimentary dinner and a custom-designed, commemorative Genting Rewards card. More rewards await Chung, from show tickets to VIP club access and a complimentary spa package.
Chung’s membership has catapulted him to the Imperial tier of the rewards program, showering him with perks galore, including free valet services, a 40% points bonus on slots, and an annual airfare reimbursement of up to $500.
The significance of loyalty programs to casinos cannot be overstated. Apart from allowing resorts to pitch direct promotions and incentives to their guests, they provide valuable insights that can be utilized to enhance the personalized experience for each guest, according to an internal document obtained.
Yet the brick-and-mortar experience isn’t for everyone; in fact, the allure of online casinos has soared, particularly in Canada.
