For the Thanksgiving holiday in Regina, a series of changes have been announced regarding the operation of various city services. The Thanksgiving closures and schedules will see all civic offices shutting their doors for the day, as stated by the City of Regina.
However, services such as garbage, recycling, and green cart will continue with their regular collection schedule. On the bright side, citizens of Regina will be able to visit the landfill from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m.
Transit users should take note, as Regina Transit services will be following a Sunday schedule. Nonetheless, the information centre and RIDELine will remain closed. Paratransit service, on the other hand, has a holiday roster covering the hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
While the administrative office at the Riverside Memorial Park and Regina Cemeteries will be closed, the gates of these sanctuaries will be welcoming visitors from 8 a.m. until 6 in the evening. Parking meters throughout the city will be taking the day off as well, providing citizens hassle-free parking.
On a festive note to promote recreation, both the North West Leisure Centre and Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre have arranged a special schedule, opening their doors from 12 noon to 6 p.m. The Regina Sportplex Fieldhouse, along with Lawson Aquatic Centre, have also planned a long day, enticing fitness enthusiasts from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Whilst Thanksgiving heralds some changes to the city’s services, there’s a comfort in knowing that despite the public holiday, many of Regina’s services will continue supporting the community as usual.
