An urgent plea from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is reaching out to the public for assistance in tracking down 78-year-old Derek Kruger, who mysteriously vanished at the end of September.
Kruger, known for his brown hair, five-foot-four stature, eyeglasses, and hearing aid, was last noticed at a gas station within the confines of Antigonish, Nova Scotia on September 29.
On a late Sunday news update, the authorities provided insights into the recent search operations initiated on Wednesday in the verdant expanses of Greenfield, within the bounds of Colchester County. Enterprises of the search bore fruit as they yielded Kruger’s red Mazda Miata, unexpectedly discovered on an adjacent logging road.
The colossal search operation taxed numerous resources and engaged a widespread area. Over 100 kilometers comprising dense forests, trails, and roadways were meticulously surveyed across more than 2,000 volunteer hours, as detailed by Sergeant Andrew Joyce, a reliable RCMP public information officer.
However, on Saturday evening, the extensive search operations in the area were temporarily brought to a halt. Despite this, the authorities have stressed that the halted procedure might resume promptly should any novel information emerge.
In the interim, while investigations persist, police have highlighted that there’s no evidence that points towards any criminal activities connected to Kruger’s disappearance. They fervently encourage those privy to any information related to Kruger’s whereabouts to reach out either to the Inverness County District RCMP at 902-625-2220 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
