With the threat of more water coming this weekend,Rapid Relief Team’s Bradley Anderson is calling for help from volunteers, to pickup drivers and those with hip waders.
“The goal is to produce 10,000 bags to line Rue Joly with a dike that will help those in that area,” he explained in a text exchange with the West Island Blog.
Here is his message and schedule for the weekend:
THE VOLUNTEER SANDBAGGING OPERATION IS KICKING OFF AGAIN AT 5:00 FRIDAY BEHIND THE LIBRARY IN ILE BIZARD
We are planning to make over 10,000 sandbags so that we can create a dike along rue Joly and around as many of the homes in the trailer park as possible.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO FILL SANDBAGS!!!
We are looking for 100-150 people to help filling sandbags, we have tents set up so that we can keep working even if it is raining.
Families are welcome to join, children must have adult supervision.
We will also need vehicles capable of going through at least 12″ of water that can do deliveries to these sites.
We need around 30 people with hip waders that can go onsite and make the dikes around the homes.
We will have hot food and drinks on site for the volunteers. Food will be managed onsite by On Rock and Rapid Relief Team (RRT).
