Brian May, the renowned lead guitarist of British rock band Queen, disclosed on Wednesday that he experienced a “minor stroke” last week, temporarily impairing the use of his arm.

In a video posted on his website, the 77-year-old musician reassured fans that he was currently doing “OK,” though he mentioned being “grounded” and advised against driving, flying, or engaging in activities that might elevate his heart rate excessively.

“I’m here to bring you some good news,” he announced with an air of optimism. “The good news is that I can play guitar following the events of the last few days. I want to say this because there was some uncertainty after that minor stroke I mentioned, which occurred about a week ago, suddenly causing a loss of control over my arm.”

May described the experience as “a little scary” but heaped praise on the “fantastic care” he received from his local hospital in Surrey, located southwest of London. “I really don’t want sympathy,” he emphasized. “Please don’t do that because it will clutter up my inbox, and I hate that!”

Alongside drummer Roger Taylor, May has continued to perform with Queen even after the band’s iconic frontman Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991.
