The health ministry said that most of the outbreaks that were reported in past waves took place in the working environment, and that the coming weeks will be unprecedented considering that students will heading back to school.

Approximately 50 percent of new infections involve the deadly delta virus, the government said.

This follows a directive by the government that asked public employees hold off on returning to work on the 7th of September.

Authorities said they will communicate a return-to-work date towards the end of September, and meanwhile people should continue working from their homes.
