Quebec Says Mandatory Immunization To Start Soon, Two Groups Exempted From Vaccine Passport

Christian Dube, Quebec’s Health Minister, said last Tuesday the province plans to have all health workers immunized, but added that they will exempt people who have not had both jabs with prescribed vaccines. he noted that details of this plan will be communicated in the next few days.

Horacio Arruda, the director of public health, stated that they are gathering data from relevant stakeholders before they roll out the program.

The Health Ministry stated that those who had received the Medicago trial vaccines as well as those who have shown contraindications to COVID-19 vaccines will be exempt when VaxiCode goes live. However, the ministry added that those who have presented contraindications need to show a doctor’s note at their local immunization center to be included in the category.

Minister Dube said stated that it is the ministry’s hope that there won’t be a need for inspectors, but fines will be imposed if health guidelines are not followed.
