On Sunday, hundreds of essential workers who included teachers, nurses, and social workers, gathered in Jarry Park to express displeasures with how the provincial government is treating them.
The workers called on the Quebec government to improve the working conditions and also increased their salary. They also insisted that the soothing words by the government during the pandemic were not sufficient. They added that they ought to be compensated for the increased risk of exposure to the virus.
Quebec teachers have also been requesting the government to improve school protections by improving ventilation and air purifiers. Nurses also spoke about their displeasure with their working conditions, and still, their major union is in talks about a new labor agreement. In Quebec, 41 000 health care workers have been infected by COVID-19; 18 of them have also died from the pandemic.
