The start of strike action by early childhood centres in Quebec is scheduled to happen next week.
After a series of general meetings in various regions in the past few weeks, CNS Union decided Thursday that its 11000 members have issued a 10-day notice of strike, whose first day will be on the 24th of September.
Quebec’s childcare workers haven’t had a proper working contract for the year and half. What they want now is for a fair wage rise in all job categories. They are also asking for the means to offer kids better services, especially for special needs children.
The group stated that the mandate is for a 10-day strike, with the other 9 days to be declared at a time they feel is appropriate.
