Quebec health minister allows bars and restaurants to stay open past midnight just for the time of NHL semifinal games.
Bars are supposed to close their doors by 11 p.m. But the public health is allowing them to serve until midnight and stay open until 2 a.m. They are also allowed only to accommodate half of the total capacity.
Quebec health minister made this announcement noting that the goal is to ensure that people do not end up in private homes. The playoff series between the Habs and Vegas Golden Knights start at 9 p.m., meaning COVID-19 regulations had to be bend to extend past midnight.
However, the establishments are required to follow public health measures including, maintaining a two meters distance, banning dancing, and recording people’s phone numbers for contact tracing in case of an outbreak.
