The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have called upon the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a 57-year-old man from northern Ontario, who has been missing since Friday. The family of the man, named Rene, is deeply concerned for his safety.

Rene, a 57-year-old Caucasian male originally from Timmins, stands at 6 feet 1 inch tall and possesses a medium build. He has short ‘salt and pepper’ coloured hair, blue eyes, and a distinct scar over his left eye. Rene was last seen steering a 2017 Polaris Ranger XP 1000, painted in a shade of grey and registered under the Ontario plate OJN44.

Police officials voiced during a conversation on Sunday that Rene’s loyal canine companion was also accompanying him in the All-terrain vehicle (ATV) on his last sighting. Rene was reportedly last seen around 1 p.m. on Friday, at the Old Mill Campground situated on Highway 101, around 50 kilometers west of Timmins.

The police affirmed that relentless search operations were underway. Observers noticed considerable police involvement within the vicinity of Highway 101, near to the campground. Multifaceted assistance is being rendered by OPP specialized units such as canine squads, aviation services, and emergency response teams to expand the reach of the search operation. Porcupine search and rescue vehicles too were spotted engaged in the search activity at the site.

As per our outreach attempts, while the OPP declined to provide an interview, the family announced their willingness to interact later in the day.

The OPP encourage anybody holding information that might help pinpoint Rene’s current location to step forward and reach out at 1-800-310-1122.

This incident emerges amidst a trend of unsettling records of fatal accidents and serious injuries linked with ATV usage in the northeast during the current summer season – including cases involving three innocent children. Updates on this developing story will be made available in this space, ensuring our readers stay informed of any progress.
