The City of Pointe-Claire is pleased to announce the appointment of Réjean Cauchon as Commander of the new Inspection – Public Security Department.

A trained firefighter, Mr. Cauchon has certifications in municipal civil emergency management and municipal performance management, in addition to having worked in municipal administration for over 30 years. In the past 20 years, he has alternately served in the role of inspector, group leader, division leader and Public Security planner for Pointe-Claire.

“His experience in public security, emergency management and managing special events, and his knowledge of Pointe-Claire, will certainly facilitate the implementation of this new department, to the benefit of all our residents,” says Mayor Trudeau.

The new Commander will primarily be responsible for supervising inspectors as they perform their expanded security duties and ensure prevention and compliance with City by-laws 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Commander will also be responsible for periodically updating the emergency response plan and will act as a preferred collaborator and actor with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM), and the ministries and organizations in charge of public protection and emergency management in Pointe-Claire and on the Island of Montreal. He will also oversee the Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit.

“Mr. Cauchon’s expertise is an asset to the City of Pointe-Claire,” says the mayor. “It is in line with our strategic directions and keeps our City at the forefront in terms of services provided to our entire community.”

Mr. Cauchon’s appointment was approved during the City Council meeting on November 1. Mr. Cauchon had been working as Planner for the Municipal Inspection Bureau since May 2014.
