The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, John Belvedere, and the members of City Council are pleased to introduce the ten young people who will form the City of Pointe-Claire’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) for the year 2021.
“In its second year, in 2020, the Youth Advisory Board submitted several ideas to improve the lives of young people. In a gesture of solidarity with their community, they launched a campaign to encourage citizens of all ages to stay safe at home, and also organized an online trivia game to entertain the public during the pandemic. In the fall, they launched their Instagram account to better connect with young people and inform them of what’s happening that concerns them in Pointe-Claire.” the mayor said.
Of the 10 young people who make up the Board, seven are back again this year and excited to welcome the three new members. These bilingual Pointe-Claire residents aged 14 to 21 who are involved in their community will begin their mandate in January.
Over the course of the year, the Board will hold in seven meetings to analyze projects and make recommendations to City Council. These recommendations will be aimed at improving public activities, facilities and services so that they better meet their needs and those of the community. The YAB will also be invited to represent the City of Pointe-Claire at events and activities.
“These young people will have the opportunity to get involved in their community, give their point of view on various projects and events, and offer suggestions to improve their living environment. We wish them all the best in their mandate!” Mayor Belvedere concluded.
