Pointe Claire divers do it again

Pointe Claire is happy to congratulate three Pointe-Claire Dive Club athletes . Jennifer Abel, Meaghan Benfeito and Vincent Riendeau won five medals at the Rostock FINA Diving Grand Prix held in Germany from January 29 to 31, 2016.

“We’re proud and honoured to see our Dive Club members achieve recognition abroad,” says Mayor Trudeau. “These dedicated and professional young athletes are models for our young divers who dream of performing at this level and representing Canada at international competitions.”

Jennifer Abel took a silver medal in the individual 3-metre springboard event and a bronze medal in the 3-metre synchro with Pamela Ware. Meaghan Benfeito won a silver medal in the 10-metre platform event, while Vincent Riendeau won a bronze medal in the individual 10-metre platform event and a silver medal in the 10-metre synchro with Philippe Gagné.

Thanks to these performances by the Pointe-Claire Dive Club’s young athletes, the Canadian team came in second at the Grand Prix, just after China.

“Once again, our athletes delivered superb performances,” says the mayor. “They are truly inspiring examples for Dive Club members. We have every reason to be proud of them and to encourage them to follow their passion.”
