Nunavut announced 4 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, a day after the region confirmed 4 others on Saturday.
These recent updates bring the total number of active cases in the territory to 25, all of which are in Arviat. The small area of about 3,000 people declared a local state of emergency last month amid increasing cases, enforcing a curfew that starts at 10 p.m and ends at 6 a.m.
On Friday, Nunavut’s chief public health officer said the “outbreak remains contained.”
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Nunavut has recorded a total of 381 cases of COVID. Of those, 337 have been in Arviat, as well as one death.
