In an unsettling twist of events, the homes of Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce were broken into within days of each other last month, according to recent reports by law enforcement.

“Obviously it’s frustrating, disappointing,” Mahomes expressed before Wednesday’s practice session.

The break-ins, initially reported by TMZ, took place just before and on the day of the Chiefs’ 26-13 home victory over the New Orleans Saints on October 7. During the game, Kelce’s celebrated partner, Taylor Swift, was present in the stands. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident.

One day before the Monday night game, law enforcement responded to a call about a burglary at a home matching Mahomes’ address in a private gated community in northwestern Cass County, located south of Kansas City’s metropolitan area.

Mahomes, citing the ongoing investigation, refrained from sharing many specifics. He did, however, acknowledge the troubling nature of the incident, stating it was “something you don’t want to happen to anybody and obviously yourself.”

The sheriff’s office report, obtained by The Associated Press, does not list Mahomes’ name. The single-page document indicates an individual called shortly after midnight on October 6 to report a classified burglary. Details about any missing items were not provided.

Ronnie Lozano, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department, confirmed the investigation is active but declined to give further information, including details on potential arrests. The county prosecutor did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Around 7:30 p.m. on October 7, as the Chiefs battled the Saints at Arrowhead Stadium, another break-in occurred at a home matching Kelce’s address in the upscale Kansas suburb of Leawood. The crime was reported early the next morning, according to a police report obtained from the AP.

Kelce’s name is absent from the report, which notes losses of $20,000 in cash and damage to a rear door. The luxurious 16,000-square-foot residence features a wine cellar, backyard pool, and a six-car garage.

Police Capt. Jason Ahring of the Leawood Police Department stated in an email that they do not comment on specific victims of crimes, except in cases of fatality crashes or homicides.

Melody Webb, a spokeswoman for Johnson County’s prosecutor’s office, also mentioned in an email that the office had no comment to offer at this time.
