New Mother Killed, Infant Survives in Horrific Multi-Vehicle Crash in Ontario Construction Zone

A tragic multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of a new mother and left her infant and three others injured in a construction zone in Melancthon, Ontario, as per the local provincial police. The harrowing accident occurred on Tuesday, around 3:10 p.m., on County Road 124, just south of the 20th Sideroad.

Officials explained that a transport truck ploughed into a lineup of vehicles stalled in the construction zone, resulting in a massive collision involving a total of seven vehicles.


The 31-year-old woman from Barrie, newly thrust into motherhood, met an untimely demise at the site of the collision. Her infant miraculously survived the tragic circumstances and was promptly transported to a children’s hospital for needed medical attention, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Alongside them, three more individuals were harmed in the crash. A 67-year-old man, critically wounded, had to be airlifted to a specialized trauma centre for immediate medical attention. Simultaneously, a 45-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were rushed to a nearby hospital, thankfully with non-life-threatening injuries.
